Speaking Part 1 — extended answers không rambling
ID 194894Part 1 answers should be 2-4 sentences, not 1 word or 10 sentences. Học PREP structure cho mỗi answer.
Part 1 anatomy
Part 1 = 4-5 phút, examiner hỏi about familiar topics (work/study, hobbies, home, hometown). Mỗi question = answer 2-4 sentences (15-25 từ).
Too short (band 6)
- "Do you like reading?" → "Yes, I do."
No development. Examiner sees minimal English skill.
Too long (band 6.5)
- "Do you like reading?" → "Yes, I love reading. I read every day. I read books, magazines, newspapers. My favourite book is..., it was written by..., the story is about..., etc." (rambles 1 minute)
Examiner cuts you off — losing topic control.
Just right (band 8)
- "Do you like reading?" → "Yes, very much. I'm particularly drawn to historical fiction — there's something about being transported to another era that I find deeply absorbing. I try to finish at least one novel a month, though work sometimes gets in the way."
3 sentences, ~35 words, ~15 seconds. Shows: vocabulary (drawn to, absorbing, novel), structure, specific detail.
