Sublist 7-10 là phần ít gặp hơn của AWL — đặc trưng cho văn bản academic khó (Reading Passage 3, lecture Section 4) và essay band 8+. Sublist 10 chỉ có 30 từ. Đây là "vũ khí" để đạt less common vocabulary trong Lexical Resource.

Lưu ý band 8: dùng từ hiếm phải ĐÚNG ngữ cảnh & collocation. Một từ hiếm dùng sai trừ điểm nặng hơn là dùng từ phổ thông đúng. Chỉ "active" hoá những từ bạn thật sự hiểu sắc thái.
