Some people argue that the ability to edit the human genome, particularly for non-therapeutic enhancements such as selecting for intelligence or physical traits, raises profound ethical concerns and should be strictly regulated. Others contend that such genetic interventions are a natural extension of medical progress and could ultimately benefit humanity. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the view that gene editing for 'designer babies' is ethically unacceptable? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.
