Tại sao examiner muốn câu phức?
Band descriptor GRA 7 yêu cầu "a variety of complex structures". Nếu bạn chỉ dùng câu đơn (Subject + Verb + Object), tối đa Band 5.5 dù grammar đúng 100%.
Cấu trúc 1 — Relative Clause (mệnh đề quan hệ)
Công thức: Câu chính + who/which/that/where/when + thông tin bổ sung.
Đơn: "Education is important. It shapes our future."
Phức: "Education, which shapes our future, is incredibly important."
Đơn: "Vietnam is a country. The country has 100 million people."
Phức: "Vietnam is a country where 100 million people live."
Tip: Dùng "which" cho non-restrictive (có dấu phẩy), "that" cho restrictive (không dấu phẩy).
Cấu trúc 2 — Conditional (câu điều kiện)
Có 4 loại — Type 0 đến Type 3. Band 7 cần dùng Type 1 + 2 + 3 thuần thục.

Type 2: "If governments invested more in renewable energy, we would significantly reduce carbon emissions."
Type 3: "If she had studied harder, she would have passed the IELTS test."
Cấu trúc 3 — Passive Voice (bị động)
Công thức: Subject + be + V3 + (by + agent).
Active: "The government should solve this problem."
Passive: "This problem should be solved by the government."
