4. Sample essay band 5.0
Nowadays many people think students should go to school until 18. I agree with this idea because it is good for students.
First, if students stay in school until 18, they can learn more things. They can study more subjects and get more knowledge. For example, students can learn science and math. This is important for their future job. If they leave school early, they will not have enough knowledge.
However, some students do not like school. They think school is boring and they want to work. They can earn money if they work. But I think they are too young to work. They should study first.
In conclusion, I think students should stay in school until 18. It is good for them because they can learn more and get better job in the future.
Bài này khoảng 135 từ, KHÔNG đạt yêu cầu tối thiểu 250 từ của Task 2, dù có đủ intro–body–conclusion và lập trường rõ (agree), nên còn nhiều điểm yếu kéo xuống band 5.0.
5. Nhận xét bài band 5.0
| Tiêu chí | Điểm được | Điểm bị trừ |
|---|---|---|
| Task Response | Có lập trường rõ, trả lời đúng câu hỏi | Ý còn chung chung (good for students, learn more things), thiếu giải thích sâu. Thân bài 2 nêu ý ngược lại nhưng phản bác rất sơ sài (just think they are too young) |
| Coherence and Cohesion | Có intro–body–conclusion, dùng First/However/In conclusion | Linking đơn điệu (First, However, But).
Collocation cơ bản (get knowledge, get better job) |
| Grammatical Range and Accuracy | Câu đơn đúng ngữ pháp, dùng modal (can, should, will) | Gần như toàn câu đơn. Chỉ có 1 câu phức (if students stay… they can learn). Không có câu bị động, relative clause. Lặp cấu trúc subject + verb liên tục |
6. Sample essay band 6.0 cùng đề
There is a widespread belief that compulsory education should continue until the age of 18. From my point of view, I largely agree with this opinion, although some students may benefit from leaving school earlier in certain circumstances.
The main reason I hold this view is that staying in education until 18 allows young people to develop essential skills for their future careers. At a sixth-form college or a comprehensive school, students can choose subjects that match their interests and complete qualifications that employers value. For instance, many higher education institutions require applicants to have studied until at least 18 to gain admission. Without these qualifications, students may struggle to compete in the job market or access well-paid jobs. Moreover, staying in education during the teenage years helps young people mature intellectually and socially, preparing them for adult responsibilities.
On the other hand, some argue that not all teenagers are suited to traditional schooling and would be better off entering work or vocational training. I have doubts about this view, however, because most 16-year-olds lack the maturity and experience to make informed career decisions at such a young age. Blended learning or apprenticeship schemes that combine education with practical work can offer a middle ground, ensuring young people continue learning while gaining real-world experience. These programmes allow students who struggle in traditional classrooms to develop skills in a more hands-on environment without completely abandoning their education.
In conclusion, I am convinced that the school-leaving age should remain at 18 for the majority of students, as this gives them the best chance of achieving their potential both academically and professionally. While flexibility is important for those with different needs, education should remain the priority during the teenage years to ensure all young people have equal opportunities.
Những chỗ tô xanh ngọc là những nâng cấp quan trọng so với bài band 5.0.
7. Vì sao bài này được 6.0
Lập trường là largely agree (đồng ý phần lớn), có nêu ngoại lệ (although some students…). Thân bài 1 giải thích tại sao cần học đến 18 (develop skills, gain qualifications, mature intellectually). Thân bài 2 nêu ý ngược lại rồi phản bác có lý (most 16-year-olds lack maturity), đề xuất giải pháp (blended learning).
Dùng linking đa dạng: The main reason…, For instance, Moreover, On the other hand, however, While…. Câu trong đoạn nối chặt: câu 2 giải thích câu 1, câu 3 cho ví dụ, câu 4 bổ sung thêm ý. Kết bài nhắc lại quan điểm và thêm câu mở rộng (While flexibility is important…).
Paraphrase đề: students → young people/teenagers, attend school → staying in education. Dùng từ chủ đề (compulsory, sixth-form college, higher education, gain admission, school-leaving age). Từ nêu quan điểm đa dạng (from my point of view, hold, have doubts about, am convinced) thay vì lặp I think.
Có câu phức (that staying… allows…, who…), mệnh đề quan hệ (qualifications that employers value, schemes that combine…), có bị động/tính từ quá khứ (are suited to); riêng are better off là cụm tính từ so sánh, không phải bị động. Dùng modal linh hoạt (should, may, can, would). Một–hai lỗi nhỏ không ảnh hưởng nghĩa.
